Too Much or Not Enough!

A question I was asked they other day and that was how much and how often should you Blog? I admit to having no idea!

I tend to go for short Blogs and maybe once or twice a week. Blogs that give a glimpse into what I am doing so you can learn a little more about me and the world (be it at times fantasy!) I live in. I like to do it this way because I want my visitors to read whatever I write and hopefully enjoy, maybe smile, but equally importantly will come back for more - I add this last point with fingers crossed!

I know we all have so much to read and keeping up with our reading lists is pretty manic at times. So I thought I’d put the question to you; you now know my Blogging thoughts, what are yours? Do you like to write lots or a little, often or occasionally?

I like to think that I write as much as is needed to get the point over. I think it is best to try to post articles on a regular basis; ...If only I could think of subjects of interest to my reader. But must remember it's only a hobby.

Love the cartoons on peggy's and your blog, where did you find them.

I like to blog around 3 times a week, and I try to make my posts a mixture of the personal and professional happenings in my life.
However, in real life, I can easily forget my blog for a week at a time. And sometimes, when I do think about it, I have nothing to say at all. :)
Sorry. That's not very helpful is it.

Hi Elliot, thanks for calling by, you are so right, it is a hobby, but it is also fun too and once we all get going, we love to do it right!

Unless life has gone totally wobbly I always blog at least once a week and sometimes twice. I try very hard to keep my blog down to 500 words or less. Sometimes I've visited a blog with a post of 1000+ words and moved straight on to the next blog in my list. There are so many lovely blogs to be read that I feel I can't spare a long time reading just the one. I also find that the act of cutting a post down can often tighten it up. [Best stop now or this comment will exceed 500 words!]

LOL, Rosalind on your comment, but wholly agree that 500 words max is plenty to keep people interested and hopefully returning!

Thanks for the follow over at mine Pauline. I tend to blog fairly regularly (normally it averages out at 5 times a week) which rather worries me now. Is it too long and too often? My blogging has been rather more intermittent in recent weeks. Maybe it'll just settle down to being a bit less regular as a new normal...

Hi Jenny, thanks for stopping by and you must Blog for what is best for you. I only do short ones, but that suits me. Looking forward to keeping up with you.

Hi Pauline ... frequency seems to be an intersting dilemma. I think those who post daily are (a) really stretching to have something interesting to say and (b) spending far too much time blogging!! When I was investigating blogs the advice was to blog with regular frequency but make sure you can actually maintain that frequency otherwise your followers won't know whether they can depend on you. I used to get Seth Godin's blog daily but I found that he hardly ever had anything to say that wasn't trivial or trite, so I no longer subscribe. On my own blogs I try to post once a week.
Cheers, Mary Tod

Hello Mary, thank you for stopping by, please forgive me for my late response, but I agree with what you say. To little can turn of interest as too much can be of no interest. Lovely to hear from you. Please call again.
