No Stamps for Christmas!

Doesn't matter where you live, the Post Office at this time of the year is the last place you want to be, but you know you have to go. The queues snake round and round and round and you wonder if you will be out before Christmas, let alone that your cards will be delivered on time. So you can imagine my surprise when, at last it was my turn to be served, not only did I need to post cards, but also to buy a few stamps for later, and was told there was none! The only stamp available was their rubber stamp, which, in true Post Office style, was thumped on all of my envelopes.  The lovely man on the other side of the counter, smiled and said, there were no stamps, so I could not have any. It is the main Post Office in our town. But despite this, I smiled, nothing could be done, after all they had a rubber stamp! It could only happen on our little pebble in the middle of the ocean!

EEK! And I thought it was bad here! Got to the counter 20 mins before opening time yesterday (armed with ereader) just to beat the mind-numbing queues.

I'll bet it's a lot warmer where you are though!

Hello Rachel, EEEk about sums it up, but you do have to laugh it is only 2010! And yes it is nice and warm here, a cool 22c. No sun today, overcast, but no complaints. Thanks for calling by and have a fabby day! xx PS which e-reader have you? we have Kindle!

I have a Sony Touch, it's brill as you can upload your own MS and scribble all over it!

Spent two weeks based in Costa Teguise pre-children and we toured the whole island. Very happy memories - loved it.

Take care,

Rach.

Oh wow, no stamps? I haven't been near a Post Office this Christmas thankfully. I'm just moaning to anyone and everyone about stuff I've ordered that's sitting in a warehouse not a mile from my house ... and has been for the last week. Grrrr.

Lucky you being all warm, I'm officially jealous, more snow forecast for tomorrow ... may never get parcels :-(

Sounds like a disaster of a post office and I thought ours were bad enough. Our post office queue stretched out onto the pavement yesterday. I waited patiently (ok, I wasn't THAT patient. I tutted and said a little too loudly that they should have more than two people on the counter) but when I reached the front I have to admit that their little folders were packed with stamps. I even had a choice of ordinary stamps, Christmas religious or Christmas Wallace and Gromit. I went for the Wallace and Gromit ones. Hope you manage to post your cards.

Hello Joanne, I hope you get your parcels very soon. We heard that you have more bad weather in the way, hope this time they are wrong! I have everything crossed for you with your deliveries. Keep warm! x

Hi Rosalind, well it took me several days before I actually stood in the PO, the queues were terrible and only 2 people to serve. I kept going back and sighing heavily! Never mind, our cards have all now gone, complete with rubber stamp! Next year I'll Blog more about what we run out of here....most things from time to time....laughing! Keep warm Love P xx

Definitely hilarious, and lucky you with your 22c weather sounds like I should come visit Lanzarote.

Hi Joanna, it takes a lot of believing, but oh so true! And I hope we do see you one day on Lanzarote. Hugs to you x

Thankfully my husband bought loads of stamps the other day, so I didn't have to queue. He had to stand for an age in the Post Office though, with all his mother's Christmas cards, poor thing.

Hi Debs, we wanted to buy stamps to save the very long wait, but they had none, that was 2 weeks ago....laugh! Hope you are getting there for Christmas! Hugs x
