The Sound Of Tubular bells

One of the loveliest sounds, to me, is the sound of tubular bells, particular the ones for the garden. Some years ago we bought a beautiful set, tuned to the Westminster scale. These magnificent tubular bells hang in our stairwell. Our doors are always open so the gentle breeze that filters through our villa make the bells resonate.
And to compliment the inside bells, we have another magnificent set in our pergola lounge. They mange to pick up plenty of breeze and we can hear their deep tone donging sound drifting into the garden.

I just love these sounds and they always make me smile.

What sounds do you have around you that makes you smile?

envious (sigh) leaving the doors open - pergola lounge (sigh)

Mine are in the garden but haven't had much chance to be out there this year yet - have to agree - nothing like a tinkle x

Prefer the calming sound of 'Tubular Bells' by Mike Oldfield.

Can't compete with open doors and outdoor living, and only bell is on the door. Sounds around me that make me smile are bird song, hearing the bees abuzzing in the garden, my Andrea Bocelli CDs playing or the sound of the car pulling on the drive announcing hubby home. But sometimes silence is nice.

I have a wooden wind chime in the garden which sounds lovely to me (we don't have neighbours)but as for tubular bells - that takes me right back to my teenage years - and to the Nebworth Festival when Mike Oldfield played live. Soooo amazing...

I bought bells like yours a few years ago in Tenerife but they are still in the bag as it's not gentle breezes we have here but gale force winds and I'm sure the neighbours would complain. I like the sound my dog makes when he's dreaming.

Hello Kit, well nothing really compares to the birds signing, one of nature's most beautiful sounds.

Hi Janice, the mention of tubular bells sends our mind skipping back to those Mike Oldfield days.... :)

Hello Cassam, I'm with you on that with the doggy dreaming, our little one does it all the time, I wonder what they are dreaming about? Thanks for calling by :)

I love chimes. I keep them next to the doors and windows at our cabin when we can keep the doors open (most of the year).

I love the sounds of wind chimes but we don't have any in our garden. I love to hear the birds. I hate to hear the continual drone of an electric shredder or lawnmower (even if quite often it's Mr A making the noise!)

Hi Liz, you cabin sounds wonderful!

Hello Ros, we are lucky we never hear the sound of lawnmowers, no one as a lawn here, not enough rain and water way too expensive for sprinkling on the garden.
